Wondering how to delete Pinterest Pins quickly?
Maybe you want to delete multiple Pins, and are worried it’ll take hours.
Good news!
You can delete or move up to 50 at once – in mere minutes.
You’ll also learn how to delete single Pins via computer or the Pinterest mobile app.
Using Pinterest for marketing? I’ll also cover a quick method to identify and delete underperforming Pins.
So let’s get started!
How to Delete Multiple Pins at Once
The fastest way to move, copy, or delete Pins is in bulk.
This must be done from browser-based Pinterest on a computer. It’s not an option on the mobile app.
7 things to know about deleting Pinterest Pins:
1 | You can move, copy, or delete multiple Pins from any Pinterest board you own.
2 | Only your Pin on that board will be deleted. Any repins will still exist on Pinterest.
3 | On group boards, you can only move, copy, or delete Pins in bulk if you pinned them – even if you’re the board creator. But there is a workaround you’ll learn further down.
4 | You can’t move, copy, or delete multiple Pins from the Pin feed – only from an individual Pinterest board.
5 | You can’t move Pins from public boards to secret boards, but you can do the opposite.
6 | Deleting Pins is permanent. They can’t be restored.
7 | You also can’t undo a bulk move or copy, so once you’re sure bulk is the way you want to go, follow the directions directly below.
(You’ll find instructions for removing individual Pins on desktop or mobile further down).
Step 1 | Go to the board with multiple Pins to delete.
Go to your profile’s Saved tab to find your boards.
Once you’ve opened the board, click the button that says Organize.
Step 2 | Choose Select or reorder Pins.
Click anywhere in the row of Pins right under Select or reorder Pins.
I recommend you ignore “Group Pins into sections” – no reason to spend time on that.
Step 3 | Choose Pins to delete.
Simply click on each Pin you wish to delete. You can choose up to 50 at a time.
Black-outlined Pins are selected for bulk deletion.
Pinterest will keep count for you at the top left. You can choose to Deselect all at top right, or just click again on a selected Pin to un-select it.
Step 4 | Choose to Move, Copy, or Delete your selected Pins.
Once you have the Pins selected, click Move, Copy, or Delete at bottom center of the board.
You may need to scroll down a bit to get the icons to show up. The trash can means “Delete”!
If you’re moving Pins, you’ll get this dialog box to choose which board to move to:
If you’re copying Pins, you’ll see this dialog box to choose which board to copy them to.
Choose the board and then click the Copy button at bottom right.
If you’re deleting Pins, you’ll be asked to confirm on this dialog box.
Remember, deleting Pins is permanent, so be sure before you click Delete.
How to Delete a Pin on Desktop
Instead of deleting a bunch of Pins on one board, maybe you just want to delete one Pin individually, or random Pins here and there.
You can delete any Pin you’ve saved. Only delete a Pin if you’re sure you don’t want it. Deleted Pins can’t be restored.
Delete individual Pins on either Pinterest.com or the mobile app.
Let’s review the desktop method first.
Step 1 | Click on a Pin to open the Pin closeup.
Step 2 | Click the Edit icon (pencil).
Step 3 | Click Delete, then Delete Pin, to delete your Pin.
How to Delete a Pin on Mobile
Find the Pin you wish to delete on the mobile app, and tap on the Pin to open the Pin closeup.
Step 1 | Tap See more above the Pin, in the Pin stats box.
Step 2 | Tap Edit Pin.
Step 3 | Scroll down past your Pin description, board, URL, and alt text. Then tap Delete this Pin to delete your Pin.
There will be one more screen to confirm, then you’re done!
How to Delete Pins from a Group Board
If you own Pinterest Group Boards, you can delete anyone’s Pins one by one using the method directly above.
But what if you’ve got someone posting spam Pins?
Or you just want to turn that board into your own personal niched board, and get rid of all other content?
There is a solution. Remove the Pinner, and block him /her.
Blocking the Pinner – at the time of removing them as a collaborator to the board – will remove all their Pins.
Feel free to let collaborators know ahead of time that you’re closing the board in case they want to move their Pins to one of their own boards.
You can also go back to each Pinner’s profile and unblock them afterwards. But blocking is the only way to remove other people’s Pins from your group board in bulk.
Should You Delete Underperforming Pinterest Pins?
The general consensus among Pinterest marketers is that it’s not a good use of your time to delete underperforming Pins.
BUT the people who have tried it have seen the results – getting rid of underperforming pins makes your average repin rate much better.
And since the Pinterest Smart Feed favors Pinners who get a lot of repins (among other things), this is a good thing!
Which Pinterest Pins Should You Delete?
Here’s what I suggest: think twice before deleting Pins from your own website.
Since other Pinners see the total number of times a Pin has been pinned, you’re making your own Pins look less popular.
While Pinterest often changes how repin numbers are displayed, you still want a high total repin number seen in Tailwind communities or on your blog. And of course, to Pinterest’s secret algorithm!
But you’re probably pinning other people’s content as well. And those are the Pins you should delete – if they’re not performing.
Plus, going through your poorly-repinned Pins will help you see which content isn’t resonating with your followers – and which boards aren’t working for you.
If you’re consistently deleting Pins from certain boards, maybe you should stop pinning to those boards!
- Improve the name and description, if it’s your own board.
- Consider deleting it or making it secret, if none of the Pins are doing well.
- If it’s a group board, consider leaving the group (how to evaluate group boards).
As far as which specific Pins are poor performers – it depends on your personal repin numbers. If you’re averaging a few repins per Pin, just delete the zeros.
Should you delete recent Pins?
I give Pins at least two months to get a repin.
At the end of December, I deleted bad Pins from October. And actually September too, because I never got around to it 😉
So these Pins will have had 2 to 4 months to get a repin.
How to Identify and Delete Underperforming Pins
If you like the idea of deleting poor Pins to enhance your standing with Pinterest, here’s an easy way to identify and remove them.
Pinterest sometimes removes repin counts, which makes it tough to know which Pins are performing – and which are losers.
Whether I can see repin counts in Pinterest or not, I like to use Tailwind to quickly find and delete poor Pins.
Here’s my process. See how this works for you!
Caution: Note the board pinned to, and the domain. You might not want to delete Pins from your secret boards, or from your own website.
1 | In your Tailwind Plus dashboard, go to Insights.
2 | Click the Pin Inspector tab.
3 | Under Filter by Date Pinned, select the desired time period (2 or more months ago).
4 | Now click the Total Saves header so they sort by worst to best. Or you might choose to sort by Clicks!
5 | Check which board and domain you’re deleting from!
6 | Click on the first Pin image. This takes you to the Pin on Pinterest*.
7 | On Pinterest, you can click on the Edit button and then delete the Pin.
8 | The page will go blank. Close it, go back to Tailwind, and repeat.
Or you can open several Pins at once – whatever works for you.
Note that the left column shows which board this Pin resides on. Take note of the boards that appear frequently and consider if you’re wasting time pinning to these boards.
Also observe which pins keep coming up with low repins, and see if you can determine some commonalities. Domain, topic, look? I saw an awful lot of mostly-white Pins with 0 repins again and again. I’ll be keeping an eye on that trend!
*If you get a “whoops, we can’t find that page,” you’ve probably already deleted the Pin.
Tailwind still shows Pins that have already been deleted, so make note of which dates you’ve “cleaned,” and don’t re-search those dates.
How Long Does It Take to Delete Pinterest Pins?
This will depend on how many Pins you pin, and how aggressive you are about deleting.
When I first wrote this in 2016, I was pinning about 10 times per day (300 a month), and it took me about 40 minutes to delete a month’s worth of underperforming Pins – the first time I tried this method.
In 2018, I was pinning 30 per day. I reviewed 2 months’ worth of Pins (about 1,800) and deleted 22 of them in 30 minutes.
It still takes time to review the boards, but because I’m learning to Pin only what resonates, I don’t have as much to delete!
I feel a half hour every 2 months is a good investment in improving my pinning.
Want to Build Your Website Traffic and Pinterest Followers?
Pinterest is the BEST source of social media traffic to websites. Each Pin can send traffic to your site for months, and even years.
If your blog has evergreen content, Pinterest should be your BFF!
To build followers, you’ve got to be pinning regularly, so they can find you! With Tailwind, I can schedule 200+ pins for the week in minutes. I find it invaluable.

Is there an easy way of deleting duplicate pins easily and not one by one?
When I first started I didn’t think about it, but now that I have maxed out the quantity…. I really need to clean it up.
Thank you!

Just the same way as described in the article. You do have to click on each you want deleted. When you have all you want selected, click the trash can icon.

Hello, I wonder if you could please give me some advice? Someone has created a pinterest account that consists solely of images of me modelling her period costumes, I modelled them for her about 10 years ago giving her permission verbally to use them on her website, she then used her camera to photograph me. About a year ago she deleted her website & then set up her pinterest account filling it with approximately 60 photo’s of me in her period costumes. She did not ask my permission & now refuses to delete them despite several requests from me, I realise that this is not neccessarily your area of expertise but I hope you won’t mind giving me your opinion on this matter. Many thanks Lucy.

I looked this up on Pinterest and unless she is impersonating you or violating your privacy, they say they won’t help you. So I think your option is to seek legal help. You could start by them sending her a threatening letter and follow up with a lawsuit if necessary. However I’m not a UK resident so I don’t know if you have other options.

My updates used to automatically delete after I looked at them.that is no longer the case so they are really building up! How do I delete my updates?
Louise Myers says
Hopefully someone in the community has a solution. Let us know if you find one!

Oh goddd, this tedious work! There must be an easier way! Thanks for sharing!
Louise Myers says
It’s tedious, but it’s 1/2 an hour to an hour per month (depending on how often you pin). It keeps me on top of how content is performing too.
The other option is to not delete Pins, which many recommend as well. But I like knowing what’s performing regardless of deleting Pins.

My zero knowledge of the Pinterest ins and outs … sorry! This was an eye opening post!
Couple of questions:
– When you say don’t delete pins from “your own website”, what does that mean exactly?
– I am planning on taking your advice and deleting under-performing pins on group boards that I’m a part of, but should I delete under-performing pins from the board of mine that is devoted to my content only?? And in terms of my content board, if I delete a pin from there, does it delete all repins as well?
Many thanks!
Louise Myers says
“When you say don’t delete pins from “your own website”, what does that mean exactly?”
Pins that link to your own site. But of course, you’re pinning other people’s content as well. And those are the Pins you should delete – if they’re not performing.
Hopefully this answers your second question too. Don’t delete your own content.

OMG yesss, I started deleting pins and my repins increased 2x!!
I havent updated my strategy from 2016 and I have tons of poor quality pins (+80%!!) .. I pinned 150 – 200 times a day, so I have a lot to clean up.. ugh!!
A few days ago I started to “bulk” delete random pins, I wish I could do it one by one, so I just want to start again this year being more aware of what I’m doing and checking my analytics every week.
Thank you so much for this post, I now see I wasnt so crazy last week lol
Louise Myers says
Great idea to be more strategic! I’m sure you’ll find that really boosts your account.
