Wondering how to get your TikTok link?
Navigating TikTok can be daunting.
You finally got started on TikTok, gained some followers, and now you’re ready to drive traffic from TikTok to your website.
But you need to share your link to convert your existing audience into TikTok followers!
Here’s how.
What is a TikTok Link?
A TikTok link is the web address that leads directly to your TikTok profile page.
This URL typically follows the format of “https://www.tiktok.com/@username”. It’s unique to each user, with the ‘username’ being the specific handle chosen by the individual or business.
This URL can be shared across different platforms to direct people to the TikTok profile.
It’s particularly useful for businesses and influencers who want to get more views on TikTok.
You can include this URL in your email signatures, other social media platforms, or your website to encourage more people to visit and follow your TikTok profile.
How Do You Find Your TikTok Link?
Finding your TikTok URL is a straightforward process. Here’s how you do it.
After you open the TikTok app on your smartphone, go to your profile by tapping the “Profile” icon at the bottom right of the screen.
- From your profile, tap the “hamburger” menu at top right. Choose “Settings and privacy.”
- Tap “Share Profile” at the bottom of the first group of links.
- A menu will pop up with various sharing options. Select “Copy Link”.
- The link now copied to your clipboard is your TikTok profile URL.
You can paste this link anywhere to share your TikTok profile, such as in an email, a text message, or other social media platforms.
Remember, the TikTok profile URL format is typically “https://www.tiktok.com/@yourusername”.
How Do You Share Your Profile with a QR Code?
Sharing your TikTok profile with a QR code is quite simple. And there are actually 3 options!
TikCode shortcut: Simply tap the icon at top left of your profile to go directly to the TikCode.
You can change the background color from pink to orange, green, indigo, or blue if you like.
Then download or share to one of the messaging or social apps listed. (Infographic below).
Here’s a step-by-step guide to a second way:
Open the TikTok app and tap on the “Profile” icon at the bottom right of the screen.
- Tap the “hamburger” menu in the top right corner of your profile page. Select “My QR Code”.
- Your unique QR code for your TikTok profile will be displayed just as in Step 2 above.
- Change the background color if you like.
- Then choose “Download” to save the TikCode to your phone’s gallery. Or share directly with one of the messaging or social app icons.
Here’s another way that works in certain countries. When you follow the steps to find your link, the TikCode appears on your screen. You can take a screenshot and upload this to your website.
When you share this image with others, they can quickly scan the TikCode using their TikTok app to access and follow your TikTok profile.
It’s a convenient and fast way to grow your TikTok following, especially during in-person meetings or events.
Can You Change Your TikTok URL?
Your TikTok URL is directly tied to your username on the platform.
So, if you change your TikTok username, your TikTok URL will automatically change as well.
How to change your TikTok username
- Open the TikTok app and go to your profile by tapping on the “Profile” icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap on the “Edit profile” button.
- Tap on the “Username” field.
- Enter your new desired username and tap “Save”.
Remember that TikTok usernames can only be changed once every 30 days.
Also, the new username must be unique and not already taken by another user.
Where Should You Share Your TikTok Link?
Sharing your TikTok URL in strategic places helps increase your profile’s visibility and grow your follower base.
Here are some places where you can share your TikTok URL:
Share on Other Social Media Platforms
Share your TikTok URL on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or Pinterest. You can add it to your bio, post it in updates, or use it in a story.
Use your TikCode in your Email Signature
Including your TikTok URL in your email signature is a great way to promote your profile to everyone you communicate with via email.
Get Followers from your Website or Blog
If you have a personal or business website or blog, consider adding your TikTok URL there. You could include it in the footer, the contact page, or even create a dedicated section for it.
Promote your TikTok on Business Cards
If you’re using TikTok for professional purposes, consider adding your TikTok URL to your business cards.
Use your YouTube Channel
If you have a YouTube channel, you can add your TikTok URL to your channel’s “About” section or mention it in video descriptions.
Forums and Online Communities Too
If you’re part of online communities or forums related to your TikTok content, consider sharing your TikTok URL there, provided it’s within the community rules.
Remember always to share your TikTok URL responsibly. Spamming your link can lead to negative reactions, so always aim for appropriate, organic sharing.
Why Not ‘Link in Bio’?
While useful, the “link in bio” feature on TikTok has limitations.
Leaving the TT Feed is a Big Step
First, it assumes that viewers will take the extra step to visit a user’s profile after watching a video, which is rarely the case.
Users often engage with content and move on without taking the time to visit a creator’s profile. This reduces the chance of click-throughs to the linked website.
Only One Link on TikTok
Another issue is that there can only be one link in a user’s bio at any given time. This can be restrictive for creators or businesses who want to direct their audience to multiple destinations.
If a new link replaces an old one, any traffic potential from older videos referring to the previous link is essentially lost.
Potentially Irrelevant Link
Lastly, the “link in bio” is not as immediate or context-specific as linking directly from a video.
A viewer might be interested in a product or service while watching a related video, but that interest may wane when they navigate to the user’s profile.
Direct links in videos, on the other hand, capitalize on the viewer’s immediate interest and provide a more seamless user experience.
Sharing Your Link To Grow Your TikTok Audience
Learning to find and effectively share your TikTok link is essential in building a robust online presence, especially for influencers, marketers, and digital business owners.
The “link in bio” option is not the only TikTok link for marketing yourself or your business.
Share your TikTok URL across various channels and platforms to increase your profile’s visibility, attract a larger audience, and bolster your growth on TikTok.
